York Tandoori Indian Restaurant and Takeaway: Authentic Indian Cuisine in York

What a fantastic find. We were stuck finding halal food and decent parking in the centre of York. The restaurant is located on the outskirts of York city centre and there is off road parking. The restaurant is impeccably clean and the waiting staff were very quick efficient and friendly. Shout out to Mr Nazrul and his team. We ordered the prawn special with green beans , butter chicken , dhaal and saag with fresh naan From an Islamic point of view they do not serve alcohol. Thank you ! Would definitely eat here again

I’ve known York Tandoori for over 5 years, and it’s always been my top choice for Indian food. I’ve tried many Indian restaurants, but none compare to this one. The food is always fresh, full of flavour, and truly satisfying. The restaurant itself is simple, but it’s a real hidden gem — warm, welcoming, and consistent in quality. The staff are friendly and kind, and they always make you feel at home. If you're in York and want authentic Indian food, York Tandoori is the place to go. Highly recommended!

Being going here for years, sitting in and taking away. Such a lovely relaxed restaurant, service personal and friendly, food great and prices reasonable. It's unlicensed and you can take your own alcohol if you need to. This has always been my restaurant and takeaway of choice

Went alone at 10pm and was the only customer - polite and friendly service. The food was sensational. Was recommended the special chicken curry, and also ordered the mixed pilau rice, papadum and aloo gobi. The first three were incredible. Aloo Gobi was okay. They offer 10% discounts for students as well. Incredible - will be back next time I’m in York

A very warm welcome frome the manager and staff. Clean, warm, nice tables set with linen. Plates came hot and a hot plate for our food so I was very happy, nothing worse than cold plates. Food was excellent and a good price. They don't serve alcohol but you can take your own and the don't charge you. When we visit York again we will definitely eat here.

So been suffering with food poisoning all week, not been able to keep anything down but finally feeling better today and the food here has made my recovery well worth its while. We started with four poppadoms and pickle tray which was sensational, and the mains that followed were to die for! Top company, better food. So happy that this was my first meal back after being ill all week. 10/10 would recommend to anyone in the area and will be cuming back

Delicious food in a relaxed setting with warm and corteous service. I stumbled upon this place because I stayed at an Airbnb in a residential area and you can tell it’s frequented exclusively by knowing locals. Everything was tasty but the onion bhajis were simply the best I’ve ever had. Memorable! Finally, Nasrul (Alex) was very kind and personable and made us feel right at home.

The dining experience and hospitality are very good. The variety in the menu for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian is widely available. The prices are very reasonable too.
